2025 New Year's Resolutions Review

I posted my needlepoint new year's resolutions on Instagram (@thebindingstitch) in January and thought it would be fun to see how I've done so far

Make a needlepoint Instagram

Seeing as I posted this on said needlepoint Instagram, I would say this one was achieved. I don't post often enough, so maybe that will be a resolution for 2026.

Paint my own canvas

I often count out my own designs and improv stitch, so this was a way for me to set a goal to stop taking shortcuts that actually make life harder. I have painted a couple canvases for myself this year as well as several for others.

Design a canvas myself

If it wasn't obvious yet, I set easy goals for myself on purpose. I do this every year, and this year was no exception. My favorite canvas design from 2025 is my To the Moon and Back canvas that I made for my fiance and stitched while my daughter was a newborn. It is incredibly sentimental and I think it turned out well.

Self finish a project

Three self finished key fobs was three too many. Finishers, you are worth your weight in gold.

Do a counted canvas piece

I bought and kitted a few patterns but never got around to it. I'm enrolled in school full time (even during the summer and winter breaks), so my brain is absolute soup. Counting that much isn't in the cards right now.

Submit a piece to the state fair

I submitted two to the Texas State Fair! To the Moon and Back got first place in the Teachers and Professionals Needlepoint division and Miss Puff got second in the Teachers and Professionals Specialty Stitches division. I definitely did not think that would happen but I am so honored that it did.

Make needlepoint friends

I've started a stitch club (@stitchbcs on Instagram) and made a few friends there. However, I wish I had put myself out there more online. I have a really hard time making friends, but  I think I'll try to join some virtual stitch clubs next year.

Overall, I think I exceeded expectations. I achieved most of my personal resolutions as well, which is a first for me. I'm so grateful for this past year and want to thank every person who has contributed. Whether you have ordered, liked my posts, or sent encouraging messages and comments, it has meant so much to me. Thank you all for your kindness and support.
